My first step into the Dataviz world
Hi! I just want to share my first activity from our data visualization class.
We had our first meeting on Sunday, 7 February 2021. Our professor asked us to make a chart on how to spend our week using any kind of visualization tool. I had ideas on what I want to do but since I just set my foot in this journey, I don’t have much idea on how to start or what tool to use.
I tried searching for some applications or tools in the web that I could use but I also know I only have limited time. Good thing, I was reminded of my good ol’ trusty friend, Excel.
In limited amount of time, I was able to come up with this little chart on how I spend my week. It looked better in my head but I think it came out differently and way too simple. I had so much fun doing it tho! I get to reflect on my life choices and it got me to reassess and reevaluate myself.
Simplicity at it’s finest — they say. From what I’ve read, It’s better to give the user a simple experience on looking at charts or graphs as if in one glance they are able to understand what they are looking at easily. I think how I made this chart is the simplest way I can have a bird’s view of my entire week and I think if I can understand it, some people will as well.
Please feel free to let me know your thoughts about my work. I am really open to suggestions because I believe it’s the best way to learn.
